Overview:
Shannon Theobald, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of New Jersey, as well as, an experienced EMDR Therapist and Career Coach at her private practice, Thrively Co. NJ Counseling & Coaching. Shannon’s passion has always been to connect with others in a way that is genuine, meaningful, and ultimately helpful in supporting the growth and management of all that is, life. She recognizes there is no way to predict what life throws our way, but believes how we react and navigate determines the quality of life we get to live. Add in the ability to have healthy relationships along the way (love: self, friends, professional & romantic), and Shannon finds clients are surprised how productive and fulfilled they can become personally and/or professionally.
Shannon is dedicated to helping others find purpose and meaning in who they are and what they do, and uses a variety of approaches & techniques to facilitate this process, accommodating each client’s needs in an effective tailored way. Thinking outside the box to uncover solutions for individuals, couples, and professionals to thrive is what Shannon enjoys most about her job, hence Thrively Co.’s name and logo!
Career Coaching:
Prior to obtaining her LPC, Shannon had a long career at Dale Carnegie successfully coaching & consulting with professionals, at all levels, to provide training solutions that met the strategic development needs of the client—and larger organization(s). Shannon has experience Motivational Speaking and facilitating organizational trainings in soft-skill areas and/or health and wellness topics, including but not limited to: communication, self-confidence, body image, relationships, education on mental health and wellness, stress management, personal/professional branding, interviewing, team building, and related topics. Additionally, Shannon currently offers 1:1 Career Coaching at her private practice.
Individual Therapy, Couples Counseling, & EMDR Therapy:
As an Individual and Couples Counselor, Shannon has a wealth of experience working with a wide range of mental health and relational issues. Individual counseling speciality treatment areas include; trauma & PTSD, body image issues, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, cooccurring disorders, and life transitions. Couples counseling specialty treatments areas include: communication, conflict resolution, healing from infidelity, intimacy issues, rebuilding trust, divorce counseling, parenting—including co-parenting and parallel parenting.
Regardless of a diagnosis or presenting problem, Shannon understands, first and foremost, that clients are humans first, and treats every client with dignity, compassion, and respect. She is passionate about helping clients break shame-based beliefs and dedicated to providing a safe space for self-exploration, acceptance, and healing to occur. Using an integrative, yet person-centered approach, she helps couples and families reconnect and build healthier communication and behaviors with each other. Shannon is skilled in helping families cope with loved ones that suffer from chronic mental illness and/or addiction as well.
Shannon takes an interactive, supportive, and empowering approach to both counseling and coaching—but ultimately Shannon believes her clients are the experts on their own life and can decide what they are ready and willing to work on—because life is a series of choices that, in the end, only you can make.
